Stone look porcelain and large format tiles are the most popular choices in Brisbane homes right now, with subway, mosaic and kit kat tiles leading for splashbacks. Outdoor tiles for patios and pool surrounds are close behind.
Large format tiles suit bathrooms and open plan living areas where people want fewer grout lines and a cleaner look. Outdoor areas have become just as important as indoor spaces, and need a tile with the right slip rating and finish.
Large format porcelain in 600×1200 and 300×600 is the most popular floor tile choice, because fewer grout lines mean an easier clean and a more modern look. For a timber look without the upkeep of real hardwood, our SPC flooring and herringbone floors are popular for living areas. Our guide to floor tiles for busy homes covers what holds up day to day.
Bathrooms are one of the most common projects we help with. Some people want soft neutral tones that won’t date, others want a feature wall or mosaics. Our bathroom tiles buyer’s guide is a good place to start.
A new splashback changes the look of a kitchen without a full renovation. See our kitchen splashback ideas and our guide to the best kitchen splashback tiles for Brisbane.

Stone look porcelain, large format floor tiles and modern splashback tiles are among the most popular choices for Brisbane homes.
Large format porcelain in 600×1200 or 300×600 is the most popular choice because it keeps grout lines to a minimum. SPC flooring and timber look tiles are also popular for living areas.
Sometimes, but not always. Outdoor areas usually need a higher slip rating and a different finish, so check the slip rating before ordering.
Ceramic tiles are generally cheaper than porcelain because they are simpler to make. Porcelain costs more upfront but is denser and performs better in wet areas and high traffic spaces.
Avoid tiles with a low slip rating or high porosity, such as some polished natural stone, because they get slippery and can absorb moisture. Porcelain or ceramic with a suitable slip rating is the safer choice for wet areas.
Measure the floor and wall areas, then add extra for cuts, wastage and future repairs. Our free tile calculator gives you an estimate before you visit the showroom.
